Apprenticeships in Warwickshire
As well as working with Schools to increase the awareness of Apprenticeships with young people, colleagues from within the Secondary Phase team of Learning and Achievement are continuing to work with Training Providers, Colleges, Employers and Employer representative bodies to increase the number of opportunities available to young people.
Apprenticeship starts are growing. In the last academic year 1094 young people (16-18) from Warwickshire started an Apprenticeship in nearly 100 different frameworks from Accountancy to Engineering and Child-care to Sporting Excellence. The route is becoming ever more popular as a way to start a career and at the half way point of the 2012/13 Academic year there has already been 764 Warwickshire 16-18 year olds start work as an Apprentice - a 13% year on year growth and nearly 70% of last year’s final figure.
The largest growth is showing in Rugby and Stratford but all districts are up on last year.
To try and continue this growth the Secondary team has set up a Facebook page and Twitter feed to help promote Apprenticeship and similar opportunities for young people in Warwickshire. Details can be found at https://www.facebook.com/ApprenticeshipsWarwickshire
