NAVCA and WCAVA: Public Law and Compact Training
Next year's budgets are now being set by the public sector and it is most likely that our sector will experience further cuts to funding. Now is not the time to do nothing!
For the past 6 years the Empowering the Voluntary Sector project has delivered workshops and a free advice line that have helped local voluntary and community groups to not only to successfully challenge disproportionate cuts but also build relationships with local public bodies.
The links below will take you to some of our cases so you can judge for yourself the effect that successful use of of public law or Compact challenges can have for local communities:
North Yorkshire PCT Challenge
Leicester Tenants Association
Alliance for Black Children
You can find more case studies on the EVS resources page of the NAVCA website.
Warwickshire CAVA is now able to offer you the opportunity to find out more about how to use these tools in a short interactive session designed by NAVCA to give you an overview of how to use public law and the Compact to protect your organisation.
About the workshops
NAVCA's public law and Compact training resources offer practical ways for you and your organisation to challenge decisions that you know to be wrong. We are confident that the training gives everyone, from development workers through to trustees, the information and confidence to know what to do, when to act and how to go about it.
In these difficult times, these tools can be real life savers. Our training, for example, shows participants how to manage a dispute with a public body and how to prepare a case to take to our free advice team.
"Some very practical information that will be of enormous help in supporting relationships between ourselves and the statutory sector"
