Volunteer Drivers Urgently needed!

Southam Town Council Volunteer Transport Service takes people from Southam Harbury and Bishops Itchington, who do not have their own transport, to medical appointments at hospitals, doctors’ surgeries, dentists’ surgeries and day centres across Stratford District.

This is a vital service for vulnerable people many of whom would not be able to attend healthcare appointments without the dedicated service of the schemes volunteers. The administration costs of the scheme are paid by Southam Town Council, Harbury Parish Council and Bishops Itchington Parish Council in proportion to the number of residents in each area. Drivers may work as many or as few hours as is convenient for them. Evidence of driving licence and insurance cover needs to be provided and the council will check on-line for road tax and Mot. Insurance cost is not normally affected by volunteer driving. All drivers need to be DBS checked which requires you to provide evidence of identity. This is organised and paid for by the council.

You will receive a mileage allowance of 45p a mile for authorised journeys which does not incur a tax liability.

If you have time to spare, own a car, have patience, understanding and want to help others, we would love to hear from you. Please ring Southam Town Council on 01926 814004
