Tendering

WCAVA recognises that the Third Sector will need to take part in the tendering processes being used by Service Providers including the Local Government.  In Partnership with Warwickshire County Council, we have run a series of workshops looking at the process and the practical filling in of tender documents.  Our contact at Warwickshire County Council has agreed to keep us up-to-date with policy and procedural changes and to working with us so that the sector has all the information it needs to take part in Tendering for contracts

Below is a copy of the training pack and the presentation from Workshop 1.

PQASSO
PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations) was designed specifically for the voluntary and community sector.  Introduced in 1997, it’s the most commonly used quality system in the VCS.  It is a generic system, covering 12 quality areas which provide guidance on what is required to run an effective organisation.

The Third Edition of PQASSO has just been developed.  It takes greater account of the sector’s role in public service delivery and the need for external communication and promotion. It also has a sharper focus on outcomes and the representative function or ‘voice’ of voluntary organisations.

For more information about PQASSO go to http://www.ces-vol.org.uk/ or contact CES on
020 7713 5722 or enquiries@ces-vol.org.uk

CES has also produced two new guides about PQASSO:

  • PQASSO: a brief guide for voluntary and community organisation
  • PQASSO: a brief guide for funders and commissioners

The PQASSO Quality Mark
PQASSO was originally designed as a self assessment system and can still be used as a self assessment tool.  However, there is now an externally assessed ‘kitemark’ for organisations to demonstrate that they have met the PQASSO standards.  The PQASSO Quality Mark is valid for 3 years.  For more information go to www.ces-vol.org.uk
