The aim of the workshop is to help trustees to understand their legal responsibilities and their overall role in the management of an organisation.  The session will suggest ways in which good governance practice can be used within their own organisations and participants will leave with practical tools and ideas to use.

There will also be a session on Finance for the Fearful which will be of particular use to Treasures
Outcomes  

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the legal structures available to voluntary and community groups and know where their organisation fits within this.
  • State the criteria for charity registration
  • Define what is a trustee and understand their legal responsibilities
  • Understand the role of the trustee
  • Understand the meaning of good governance
  • Identify how good governance can be applied within their own organisation
Requirements:  
  Participants are asked to bring a copy of their governing document with them
