Rugby Young Carers

Rugby Young Carers Project works with children and young people between the ages of 6-18 who take responsibility for the care of a family member who is ill, has a disability, is experiencing mental distress or is affected by substance use or HIV/AIDS.
They may not be caring all of the time and the effect of caring will vary from one Young Carer to another. Because of their caring responsibilities, many Young Carers are disadvantaged, impacting on various parts of their lives including their education, social lives/friendships, and emotional and physical well being.
The project aims to:
- Raise awareness of the needs of Young Carers.
- Identify and support Young Carers through regular groups meetings and outings.
- To enable the voice of Young Carers to be heard and influence the development of the project.
- To work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Improve services and support for Young Carers.
The project aims to address and meet each Young Carers varied needs:
- Ultimately offering a "fun time" to explore hobbies and talents.
- It gives Young Carers the opportunity to meet others in similar situations.
- We offer information, advice and practical help and support.
Informal enquiries/referrals are welcomed from Young Carers families, statutory and voluntary agencies or any interested parties.
