The coronavirus pandemic has led to a groundswell in people coming forward to volunteer in their communities. It has also meant that existing volunteers have been stood down because of their vulnerabilities, closure of services or risks associated with volunteering roles. Organisations have responded creatively by adapting services and volunteer roles. New volunteer led organisations have sprung up to meet community need. We are delighted to welcome the following organisations to speak about their experiences: Escape Arts, Pawprints dog rescue, Mutual Aid group, Volunteer Friends, and Warwickshire Scrubbers (creating scrubs, bags and caps for local hospitals).
This event highlights the incredible ways in which individuals and organisations have risen to the challenge. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the issues going forward:
How do we keep people engaged in volunteering as we return to the ‘new’ normal?
How do we re-engage with volunteers who have been put on hold?
What are the ongoing issues and challenges with volunteering?
We will be sending you a Zoom invite closer to the date.
