Children of all abilities can take part in the charity’s initiatives and see their fitness and confidence levels grow as a result. Running courses are set up either at school or in the local parks and children will work to their own abilities, some even running several marathons in one school year.
Kids Run Free is a thriving grass roots charity and the brain child of triathlete and mum of two Martine Verweij. Children are at the heart of the organisation and we are passionate about helping them to lead healthier, happier and more active lives through our running based programs Kids Run Free (parks) and Kids’ Marathon (schools).
Since the charity began in 2011 it has gone from strength to strength and now has a presence in over 34 parks and 70 schools across the UK. There is huge demand for us to deliver our most recent initiative Kids’ Marathon to more and more schools across the UK and in 2016/2017 we hope to launch in at least 60 new locations.
Founding Kids Run Free CEO Martine Verweij set up Kids Marathon in 2013 after recognising there was a need for running activities for very young children. She said: “We are delighted at the youngster’s success this year. The goal of Kids Run Free is to give all children the opportunity to run in a safe environment. The human race is made to run, which is why kids love it”.
Kids Run Free are looking to raise £10,000 worth of pledges by Wednesday, 31st August 2016 that can then be matched by the Big Give. Funds will need to be ready to be transferred to the charity by the end of 2016.
The second part of the fundraising campaign will be as part of the Christmas Challenge where a public fundraising campaign will take place. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07711 349592 if you are interest in donating. All those who donate more than £500 will receive a certificate.
