Dementia Action Alliance Launch

The new Nuneaton & Bedworth Dementia Action Alliance will be officially launched by the Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth on 6th October 2017.

The Nuneaton & Bedworth Dementia Action Alliance (N&BDAA) will be launched on the 6th October at Nuneaton Town Hall by the Mayor and Mayoress of Nuneaton & Bedworth. This is the first local Dementia Action Alliance to be formed in Warwickshire and is a new and exciting step forward to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers through a local coordinated approach. The work of the alliance will be firmly focused on what really matters to people living with dementia. The new group is the coming together of a wide range of organisations, groups and businesses in the Borough to move forward together to create more dementia friendly communities.

The launch event will feature keynote addresses from supporters of the new alliance in front of more than 60 guests– this will include:

  • The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth Councillor Bill Hancox
  • Philip Richardson – Director Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council
  • Phil Evans - Head of Service, Community Safety and Local Working Service, Warwickshire County Council
  • Superintendent Andy Nolan - Warwickshire & West Mercia Police
  • Joe Edwards - The Alzheimers’ Society
  • Claire Taylor - Health Improvement Lead, Warwickshire County Council

The Nuneaton & Bedworth Dementia Action Alliance is embarking immediately upon an action plan of improvements and initiatives across the Borough and is looking for local businesses, community groups, libraries, faith groups, schools and colleges, museums, shopping centres and charities as well as health and social care providers – to join the alliance as members. Anyone can help!

Membership to the N&BDAA Steering Group is completely free. All we ask is that members take steps to better support anyone in the Borough living with dementia by:

  1. Committing to the vision, mission and values of the N&BDAA
  2. Attending meetings and contributing to the N&BDAA’s programme of events
  3. Proactively seeking out opportunities to collaborate with other members
  4. Supporting calls to action and other joint working
  5. Promoting the work of the N&BDAA and membership to others where appropriate
