Hosting a Remembrance Day Event During the Pandemic Webinars

Hosting a Remembrance Day Event During the Pandemic - Advice and Q&A Webinars

From Warwickshire County Council Communities and Partnerships Service:

Remembrance Sunday is a significant date in our calendar where the nation unites to make sure that no-one is forgotten and to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.

This year will feel very different. For the first time in history, the annual ceremony at the Cenotaph will be closed to members of the public, with people encouraged instead to join together for a national moment of silence at 11am as the service is broadcast nationwide.

The National Guidance for Remembrance Sunday does allow for local events, but with significant adjustments to ensure the safety of all those involved. This includes keeping numbers to a minimum, having shorter ceremonies with a focus on wreath laying and observing social distancing at all times. All of the existing Coronavirus legislation will of course still apply, including the ‘rule of 6’.

Working with partners across Warwickshire, Warwickshire County Council has prepared guidance for those seeking to hold a Commemoration: A guide for holding Remembrance Day events

We will also be running a couple of Q&A webinars w/c 26th October for those who have specific questions they would like to discuss.

The webinars are aimed at town and parish councils and community groups planning Remembrance events.  The webinars will take the form of information giving and Q&A, with input from Public Health Warwickshire, Warwickshire Police, and borough, district and county regulatory and community safety colleagues.
