Independent Advocacy is looking for a new Chair

Independent Advocacy are looking for a dynamic, motivated and committed individual to become their new Chair.

From Independent Advocacy:

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and committed individual to become our new Chair.  We need someone who is passionate about “empowering vulnerable people to lead fulfilling lives through innovation” and can bring knowledge and experience to the role.

We are committed to co-production and working with service users in evaluating and designing our services and are also seeking to increase community involvement in our work through further development of our existing volunteer base.

You will need to be over 18 and be able to evidence Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. You cannot have been previously disqualified as a trustee or company director, be an undischarged bankrupt or have certain unspent criminal convictions. More information on who can be a trustee can be found at the charity commission website.

Ideally, the new Chair will be embedded in the local community and can help us make new connections and build new partnerships. We are hoping to find someone who understands the difference support and compassion can make when people are in difficulty. We are also looking for someone who can inspire people to support us and our work.

We are looking for a Chair who shares our values, is committed to empowering people, committed to equality and diversity and who can support our CEO to achieve our vision. The Chair will be an individual who is excited by the opportunities and can make sure that we fully exploit them.

The successful applicant will have the full support of a strong and enthusiastic Board of Trustees and a team of resourceful staff.

We are a Disability Confident Committed Organisation and a Mindful Employer. If you have access needs in relation to taking on the role of Chair these will be supported.

The role is mainly working from home with occasional office visits (our current office base is in Kenilworth but we're hoping to move to Bedworth shortly).

How to apply
To arrange an informal and confidential discussion about the role, please email our CEO, Simon Cottingham: simon.cottingham@independentadvocacy.org
