From Warwickshire County Council:
An Introduction to Restorative and Relational Practice (Partners and Non-C&F WCC).
People are our most important resource
We are all passionate about making Warwickshire the best it can be and over the past months WCC Children and Families has been investing in exciting new ways to support the people we all work with. Restorative Practice is at the heart of this.
Restorative Practice is all about relationships. We understand that those relationships are crucial to ensuring young people and their families build on their own strengths and find their own, sustainable solutions.
Children live in families; families create communities and communities make a county
Restorative practice encourages those who work with children and families to focus their time on building quality relationships that inspire positive change. This extends to how we support one another in our teams and how we connect with colleagues across our organisations and beyond. Ultimately, working WITH and alongside people improves the outcomes we can achieve together.
We want restorative to be ‘who we are’ and ‘how we do things here in Warwickshire’
The Restorative Practice Development Team is working with individuals and teams to develop their understanding and application of restorative approaches in all aspects of their work.
Focusing on relationships; encouraging fair process and offering high support and high challenge, we want to share relational working practices with our council colleagues and external partners so we develop a common restorative language and can all enjoy the benefits and improved outcomes from working in collaboration.
