WHAT IS THE ICS?

The national wide approach of Integrated Care Systems (ICS) aims to improve sharing knowledge and pooling resources whilst improving health and care.

Chair designate of the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (C&W ICS), Danielle Oum, spoke at the Health and Social Care Forum in June 2022, giving an overview of the intentions of C&W ICS. Our ICS’s website Happy and Healthy Lives has a short video from the Kings Fund and explains about C&W’s ICS, Integrated Care Board (ICB), and Integrated Care Partnership (ICP).

CAVA’s CEO, Karen Winchcombe, together with Steven Hill, CEO at Coventry & Warwickshire Mind, are the current VCSE representatives on the ICP. They endeavour to feedback views of Coventry and Warwickshire’s VCS to the ICP, as well as sharing information with VCFSEs.

The ICS implementation guidance on partnerships with the VCSE sector highlights that the VCSE sector is a key strategic partner with an important contribution to make in shaping, improving and delivering services, and developing and implementing plans to tackle the wider determinants of health. CAVA and VAC are working with colleagues from across the system and area to support the VCS’s role and reach to be recognised.

Updates

We’ve had three networking and engagement events for VCSEs and Health in SW Place (in Warwick District, Stratford District and online).

The most recent event (17/05/2023) focussed on partnership working in relation to VCSEs and SW Place priorities for health. We were able to hear from Stour Health and Wellbeing Partnership and Dad Matters Warwickshire, as well as attendees about their work and activities, and discussed synergies and collaborations.

Previously (on 15/03/2023) we explored:

  • climate and environment (one of SW Place’s priorities)
  • opportunities for partnership work and collaboration related to this topic
  • how nature can support and improve employee and volunteer’s wellbeing.

A recording of the event is available on our YouTube Channel.

On 16/11/22 lots of useful discussions were had about the opportunities, challenges and threats for Warwickshire’s VCSEs and those communities we serve, in relation to health and care.

As a result, we will be:

  • providing frequent updates via our communications’ channels. Make sure you’re signed up for newsletters.
  • hosting a ‘Network for VCSEs and Health in SW Place’ on a quarterly basis, in various locations throughout South Warwickshire.

You will be able to register for future networking opportunities via this link
