We are launching our fourth State of the Sector survey for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Warwickshire and Solihull.
The profile of the VCSE sector has never been greater, and we want to keep it this way. The survey explores key areas such as finances, volunteering, partnerships, and of course the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; it is only by understanding what is happening in communities, and what is facing you in the future, that CAVA, the public sector and funders can understand where to put our efforts to support you.
Demand has gone up and income down, leaving some organisations ‘fighting for survival’, as they try to navigate the challenges that the pandemic has thrown at them. Whilst a lot of attention has focused on the funding that VCSE organisations receive, the impact of the pandemic has had even wider ramifications, transforming working practices and service delivery models, either by socially distancing, or digitalising your work, developing new practices that for many would have been unthinkable just a few months ago.
The closing date is 31st October 2021, and all organisations that respond will be automatically entered into a prize draw. One organisation from each district or borough will receive a donation of £50, and everyone will be entered into a prize draw to win a Venturer Netbook worth nearly £200.
Your responses will remain completely confidential, personal information will not be shared with any other party. We know it’s been a busy year, so it should take around 20 minutes to complete the survey; we are keen that as many organisations as possible take part in the survey, no matter how large or small, please spare the time to help with this important piece of research.
Plus, keep an eye out for the focus groups we’ll be running throughout October, they’ll be a great opportunity to network with others and our CAVA team.
CAVA uses the findings to inform local government, funders and the public of the scale and impact of the sector. We aim to publish the report and full findings at the end of 2021.Findings from previous surveys have proved invaluable to individual organisations for a range of activities including lobbying and fundraising. National research from NCVO has shown that there are over 163,000 community organisations in the UK, with 16.3 million people volunteering their time at least once. In Warwickshire and Solihull we know that 69% of all community organisations are small, and in our 2020 COVID-impact survey nearly 50% stated the COVID had had a negative impact on the delivery of their services, often to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, and 16% said their funding had reduced by 50% or more as a result of the pandemic.
Understanding your challenges and helping you to respond has never been more important to us. Thank you!
